Free cycle marking event

Hastings Police will be holding a free bike marking event in Harold Place, Hastings from 1pm to 6pm on Saturday, 5 April.

Local business Handsome Bicycles based in Harold Place will be supporting police by offering a bike checking service. 4Down Distribution will also be there to promote this year’s 24 hour Skateathon, a skate and BMX riding event to raise money for the Boley Trust.

PCSO Lucy Paffett, said: “Anyone is welcome to have their bicycle, tricycle or even unicycle property marked with a Datatag. We offer this for free as Datatags can act as a deterrent to would be thieves. They also allow for a stolen bike to be traced back to its owner if found.

“We are particularly interested in encouraging teenagers to come along and have their bikes marked. This is a week before the 24 hour charity Skateathon.”
