Free electric blanket testing at Sidley

ANYONE who would like their electric blanket tested for free is invited to attend a session being hosted by Hastings and Rother PCT in partnership with Rother Homes at Sidley Baptist Church on Monday, February 25 from 9.30am '“ 1.00pm.

There will also be the opportunity for people to meet representatives from other local organisations such as Age Concern, Citizens Advice Bureau and Help the Aged and get information about benefits and entitlements of particular interest to older people.

Margaret Delahoy, public health development worker for the PCT, said: "Unfortunately, each year hundreds of house fires are accidentally caused by a faulty electric blanket.

"Although they are made to strict safety standards, any blanket which is used or stored incorrectly or is more than five years old may be a fire risk.

"In addition to the blanket testing, the day will be a great opportunity for older people to get advice and information from other organisations who can offer them support."

Anyone who would like their blanket tested is advised to make an appointment to avoid delays on the day by contacting Margaret Delahoy on 07733 111292.
