Free lifeguard courses

Swim UK will be offering free lifeguard courses for unemployed people across Sussex this year.

Week long courses are planned from 10th March this year!

Swim UK has been delivering its award winning programme for over 18 months from the Brighton Swimming Centre. It now is offering courses in St Leonards.

On the course learners will attain nationally recognised lifeguarding skills along with defibrillation and first aid before finally achieving the Royal Life Saving Society “National Pool Lifeguard Qualification”.

Paul Smith, Managing Director of Swim UK commented: “We are delighted to be able to offer this qualification in across Sussex.

“The fact that it will be offered freely to those in receipt of eligible benefits will really help learners up skill and find employment.

“There are always a great many jobs in the leisure industry that require applicants to hold this qualification and we have made particularly strong links with two national companies that are seeking lifeguards – Bourne Leisure and Neilson Active Holidays. However, there are pools everywhere and many of them are hiring coming up to the summer.

“I originally became a lifeguard when I left school and it helped provide a route for me into a new career – I hope these courses help people find sustainable employment. It’s a great summer job and there are a lot of opportunities.

Courses are free for everyone over 19 years of age and on job seekers allowance etc and are available for anyone over 16 years of age at £199 for the week long course.
