The offer comes from Herstmonceux based Perfect Plants.

Caroline Knight, from the nursery, said: “Growing sunflowers is a brilliant way to engage children because they grow so fast and have spectacular results in a short space of time.

Schools can organise their own growing competitions (tallest/yellowest/straightest etc) and they can use the exercise for some great outdoors lessons together with photographic opportunities.

“Sunflowers are a magnet for pollinating insects and they also feed the birds too.

“We will offer schools a ‘Sunflower Pack’ at no charge which includes free seeds plus details of discounted products relating to growing.

“They just need to register with us via email: [email protected] and they will receive enough seeds for everyone in their school.

You can also telephone 01323 833479.

Any primary school can request their free pack and seeds.
