Freeze on taxi fares in Bognor?

Fares charged by taxi drivers around Bognor Regis are set to be frozen for the coming year.

Councillors meeting tomorrow (Friday, February 13) are expected to agree to keep the level of charges the same.

This follows a request from taxi drivers at a recent meeting with Arun District Council that they do not want an increase in the coming months.

The current fare is 2.20 for the first 168 yards, followed by 10p for each 83.34 yards to equal 4.10 for the first mile.

Passengers then pay 2.10 for each further mile.

The level of charges will be debated by Arun's licensing and enforcement committee. The outcome will be advertised for public comments before a final decision is made.
