Frenzied assault on Littlehampton Good Samaritan

A GOOD Samaritan who stopped to help a teenage girl ended up in hospital when he was viciously set upon by the girl and five others in a “vicious, unprovoked” attack in Littlehampton.

The 49-year-old Littlehampton man was walking through the town’s High Street, with a friend, at about 12.15am, on Saturday, when he spotted the teenage girl, whom he believed was being hassled by the gang of five boys and girls.

The kind-hearted man stepped in to offer his assistance to the youngster, but was then attacked by all the teens, including the very girl he thought he was helping, in a frenzied attack, which left the man with a broken ankle.

“He apparently commented on how one of the teenage boys was talking to a girl - but then the group set upon him.”

The man was taken to Worthing Hospital by paramedics to receive treatment for his injuries.

Detective Constable Sarah Lovett, of West Sussex CID said: “This was a vicious, unprovoked attack on a man who was trying to do the right thing.
