Fresh start as Arun’s new offices open in new year

BETTER late than never, the new-look Arun Civic Centre will open its doors to the public on January 10.

The district council’s headquarters, in Maltravers Road, Littlehampton, is in the process of being transformed, but the official opening has been delayed beyond the original January 4.

Councillor Paul Dendle, cabinet member for finance and central services, said: “Despite the snow, our staff and contractors have worked around the clock to keep the redevelopment on schedule and the building work will be completed by January 4, exactly as planned.

“We have made the decision to delay the opening for just four working days so staff can fully familiarise themselves with the revamped area and ensure everything is ready to receive the first customers.”

The office will close for Christmas at 4pm tomorrow (Friday, December 24), with the cash tills closing at 3pm, and reopen on January 4.

The building control service will be operating a limited inspection service on December 29, 30 and 31.

There will be no change to refuse and recycling collections, and the visitor information centre at the Look & Sea Centre will be open as normal, closing only on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
