Friends will host walk to help reserve

THE FRIENDS of Pagham Harbour are hosting a special walk to support the nature reserve.

On July 10 the charity has invited people to take a stroll from Sidlesham Quay, across the North Wall to the Old Salthouse at Pagham.

The building will be opened specially that evening.

The walk is optional and anyone wishing to head straight to the Salthouse would also be welcome.

The charity mainly supports the reserve in conservation and public education.

The nature reserve is one of only a few UK sites where plants such as the Childing pink survive, along with southern marsh orchids.

The Friends’ trustees are currently considering several requests for funding work on the reserve.

Its recent May open day grossed more than £700.

Much of the money – all of which will be spent on Pagham Harbour – was generated from donations by businesses which were then sold, used as prizes in a raffle, or auctioned off.

The full list of donors is at www.fohp.org.uk.

The trust has thanked the businesses and its volunteers who made the day a success.
