From TV show to Northiam Blue Cross

Tracey Langford, from Bexhill, realised one of her lifelong dreams when she enrolled for work experience at Northiam's Blue Cross animal centre this week.

Tracey, 37, had always wanted to work with animals but didn't have the confidence to pursue her ambition. Now, after taking part in the ITV1 programme Kyle's Academy - on air for two weeks from Tuesday (June 18) - she is ready to take the first steps towards a new career.

The programme, hosted by Jeremy Kyle, gave five members of the public a chance to resolve the personal problems which were preventing them from getting on with their lives and realising their dreams.

During filming, Tracey lived with the other participants and worked with Jeremy and a team of experts to help overcome her mood swings and comfort eating habit.

At the end of the series, each participant was offered a reward treat and encourage them to stick to their new lifestyle.

Tracey, of Clint Green Avenue, has a passion for animals and her pets include a snake, three cats and a dog. The Blue Cross offered to help Tracey fulfil her dream by organising work experience at the small animal adoption and equine centre in Northiam after being contacted by the show.

Tracey said: "I've always wanted to work with animals but was too afraid to change my career and re-train."

Office worker Tracey has been through a hard time, being made redundant three times and losing her mum last year. She said: "I was thrilled to work at the Blue Cross and have been walking and bathing dogs and grooming cats. The people here are fantastic but the centre needs all the support and money it can get. Being on the programme was great and I also got to hand-feed rhinos at Whipsnade Zoo - another dream come true.
