Frying This Morning - Enjoy A Big Sussex Breakfast!

The Sussex Breakfast, a new initiative to celebrate the fine produce from across the county, will be launched later this month.

Bed and Breakfast owners and food and drink producers from across Sussex are being invited to tuck into brunch at Battle Golf Club on Wednesday, 24 January.

Breakfast ingredients ranging from eggs, bacon and sausages to milk and juice will all have been sourced locally, with most of the produce never having left Sussex.

The aim of the Sussex Breakfast is to promote local food and drink, provide an extra reason for visitors to come to Sussex, and to strengthen the ties between producers and accommodation providers.

Kevin Boorman, manager of 1066 Country Marketing, said: "Tourism is vitally important to the local economy, this project provides another reason for visitors to come here, at the same time directly helping both the accommodation providers and the local food and drink producers."

"We have fantastic local produce to be proud of! We know our visitors are interested in where their food and drink comes from, so it makes sense to promote local produce from the county. And, with growing interest in our environment, it is great for visitors to enjoy a fantastic meal knowing it has generated so few 'food miles.'"

The event has been organised by the Netherfield Centre (part of Plumpton College) and 1066 Country Marketing, with help from a variety of sources including Tourism South East, European programmes and local councils.
