Vintage planes from the Second World War soared overhead all weekend and the stunning sight of 11 Spitfires and Hurricanes in the skies above the famous track on Sunday capped a fitting commemoration to the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

There was some disappointment on Saturday after a fuel leak denied the crowds a last look at the famous Vulcan bomber at Goodwood. It had reached Littlehampton when it was forced to turn back to base.

But that was quickly forgotten and during a huge flypast on the final day, Lorch March paid tribute to the serviceman and women based at Goodwood who lost their lives in the war.

There was a lap of honour for the 23 war veterans at the Revival, which included 94-year-old wing commander Tom Neil, who fought in the Battle of Britian 75 years ago.

The field of fighter planes on exhibition was a major draw all weekend and included a 1939 Bristol Blenheim Bomber.
