Fun day, music and comedy to be staged at Saltdean Lido

A comedy night and fun day will held at Saltdean Oval Park this weekend.

It is being organised by Saltdean Lido Community Interest Company, which runs the site for the benefit of the community.

The company is currently bidding to run the Lido on behalf of Brighton and Hove City Council and the winner is expected to be announced at the end of this year.

Saltdean’s first comedy night on Friday May 31 at 6.30pm will be compered by Stephen Grant, and feature Zoe Lyons, Alphonso Brothers, Clint Westwood, Dyball and Kerr, The Maydays and The Noise Next Door.

The family fun day will take place on Saturday June 1 from 11am-4pm.

There will be live music from Kaz The Forces Sweetheart and Terry Garoghan, zumba classes and swing dance lessons, as well as a fun dog show and displays by Sussex Police Dogs.

Kids can tackle an obstacle course devised by British Military Fitness, seed planting, a Family Treasure Hunt and join in with Dizzy Tilly Kids story telling sessions. There will be traditional sideshows and funfair rides.

East Sussex Reptile and Amphibian Society will have snakes and lizards on show, while Owls Out and About will have owls and birds.

A concert on Saturday evening will feature Abba Tonight and the Blues Brothers.
