Scores of children and families flocked to Alexandra Park last Wednesday (August 6) to take part in a variety of fun activities supported by Hastings Borough Council.
Opened by council leader Jeremy Birch and Mayor Bruce Dowling, Playdays offered youngsters lots of fun-filled activities, including messy play, sand sifting for treasure, water slides and much more.
Councillor Birch said; “The Playday campaign is committed to ensuring all children and young people across the UK can enjoy their right to play and the council is very proud to support this. Hosted by the council’s play Hastings team and now in its 21st year, Playdays in the Park is a fantastic partnership project which has grown stronger and stronger and has become ‘the’ diary date for play during the summer holiday. Thanks must go to all those that help to make these events so successful including Hastings and St Leonards Play Forum which includes In2play, Active Hastings StreetGames, Hastings and St Leonards Children’s Centres and of course all the volunteers.”
The next Playdays will take place in Alexandra Park on Wednesday, August 20 and Wednesday, August 27, 10.30am to 4.30pm.
