Fun lights raise £5,000

A PEACEHAVEN festive lights extravaganza has raised £5,495 for the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Sick Children in Brighton.

A PEACEHAVEN festive lights extravaganza has raised 5,495 for the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Sick Children in Brighton.

More than 5,000 visitors flocked to see the Christmas display created by the Burnage family from Malines Avenue.

Launched by Brighton and Hove Albion stars Kerry Mayo and Gary Hart, the displays were made up of hundreds of coloured bulbs and featured models of children's cartoon favourites, Noddy, Mickey Mouse, Thomas the Tank Engine and Bob the Builder.

One ex-pat family from Australia, visiting family in Sussex for Christmas, even stopped by as a result of seeing last year's show reported on the Sussex Express website.

Now an annual event, this year's show expanded from three to four decorated houses after the Burnage's neighbour, Roland Truelove, joined in the festive fun.

Michael Burnage said: 'Other neighbours have already confirmed their interest in making the spectacular even bigger next year.'

During the three years it has run the brothers Michael and Mark and their dad James have raised more than 10,000 for charity.
