Fund to be set up in memory of mother killed in Battle crash

There are plans to set up a community fund in memory of a mum-of-three who died in a car accident in Battle on Sunday (March 19).

The woman, who has not been officially named by police, died after she was struck by a vehicle while walking with her partner and three children along Upper Lake.

Battle Baptist Church, where the two eldest boys are believed to attend regular after school clubs, has announced plans for a community fund to help the family affected by the tragedy.

The church will be working with other community leaders on the fund, with further information to be released shortly.

To provide a focus for the grief and shock felt by the whole town, St Mary’s Parish Church is to hold a special service on Sunday (March 26) from 1.45pm, led by the Dean of Battle, the Very Reverend John Edmondson, where candles may be lit and prayers offered for the family and the community.
