Fundraising at Bexhill College was both ethical and fun

ASDAN Environment group at Bexhill College provided a fun filled morning of activities to raise money for Fairtrade Foundation and Brownbread Horse Rescue. The course is specifically designed for adult learners with disabilities and differences, and they have been thinking about ethical choice and beating poverty by opting for fair trade products.

Learner Wai Wong wished to also raise money for local charity Brownbread Horse Rescue. The students therefore decided to plan as many activities as possible to raise money for these two causes.

They created fancy dress outfits themed as Fairtrade products and served Fairtrade teas, coffees and home made cakes. They organised a tombola, guess the weight of the cake, pin the tail on the Brownbread horse, ‘free range egg’ and spoon race, and apple bobbing.

Tony Smith from Brownbread Horse Rescue attended the event and brought a display and Powerpoint presentation about the rescue centre.

The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and raised more than £120, leaving them keen to think up ideas for their next environmental charity.
