Funeral directors take to the skies

FEARLESS funeral directors are to take part in a parachute jump from 10,000ft to raise money for local charities.

The group of 11 will take part in a skydive in aid of St Barnabas' Hospice, in Worthing, and Chestnut Tree House children's hospice, near Angmering, on Saturday, May 20.

Justin Smith, from A&F Pilbeam funeral directors, in Underdown Road, Southwick, said: "I have done a static-line jump before, but it will be the first time I have done a tandem jump. I'm looking forward to it."

Kate Bellingham, of HD Tribe funeral directors, in South Street, Lancing, said she had no fears about taking part in her first skydive.

"I am fine about the jump. It is something I have always wanted to do. This is one of those things to tick off before I'm 40," she said.

Her colleague, Paul Maguire, of HD Tribe's Worthing branch, in Broadwater Road, joked: "It's not the fall that kills you '“ it's the hitting the ground. I'm looking forward to it though. I am quite excited."

Hatty Hall, events fundraiser at St Barnabas' thanked the funeral directors for taking part and supporting the hospices.
