Future of the Colonnade - give your views

What do we want for the future of the Colonnade?

That's the question being asked by Bexhill campaigner Jackie Bialeska who is calling on residents and visitors to say exactly what they think.

She asking people to make their views known to Rother District Council before work starts on altering this section of the seafront.

Jackie said: "Any improvements, apart from the awful cost in these stringent times, would seem to be welcome - most definitely the rebuild of the rowing club. However, some of the commercialisation of the historical Colonnade area needs a firm input of opinions from the local people whose own money will provide the total cost of this enterprise."

The Colonnade cafe was closed in January and while it has been temporary home to the kiosk owners will soon be empty again according to Jackie.

"We, at Vox Pop, would like to ask the people, local and visitors, what they would like to see in the Colonnade area. Do you think desireable and viable a high class restaurant, a popular snack type cafe like we had, or a popular restaurant with quick and easy seafront type meals? All plus toilets, of course.

"Consequently we are putting out the trolley where you can express your own opinions to be passed onto the council.

She warned: "Whatever the council promises, make sure they know what you want before it is all finished and done without you knowing.

"After all, it is your money and you know best.

"You have changed their minds before and you can do it again."

Look out for the Vox Pop trolley by the Coop in Devonshire road, or near the cinema building in Western Road, and contribute opinions there.
