Northchapel Vegetable and Flower Show on Sunday was a great success, with more than 280 entries across the various classes.

The judges were impressed with the quality of the produce on display at Northchapel Village Hall, in Pipers Lane, and the creative talents demonstrated in other classes.

New classes this year included photography and home-made drinks, both of which proved very popular.

The show received financial support from the parish council and the chairman, Lynda Bell, presented the prizes.

The prizes for the children’s classes were supplied by Daphne Trussler and Robin Walter provided the prize for the winner of the photography competition.

Show organisers Sarah Bound and Liz Clifton were assisted by Clifford Bell and Jane and Laura Dadswell.

Teas were served by Jane Walter, Jan Glover and team and Stephanie Hipkiss organised a raffle.

Jen Burrows of Sweet Briar Nursery set up a plant sales table, with proceeds donated to St Michael’s Church.

Vegetable and flower show results were:

Ern Talman Trophy for Vegetables – Sue Moss.

Valerie Moss Trophy for Scented Rose – Jane Walter.

Ruth and Andrew Vivian Flower Trophy – Margaret Talman.

Fruit – Jim Bound.

Flower Arrangement Salver – Pam Bruce.

Winterton Trophy for Best Single Exhibit – Sue Moss.

Barlow Trophy for Most Points in Show – Jim Bound.

Baking Trophy – Jacqui Moss.

Preserves – Lynda Bell and Roddy Bruce.

Men’s Bake-off – Jim Bound.

Photography – Frances Bayliss.

Drinks – Sarah Bound.

Hen’s Eggs – Sue Moss.

Results in the children’s classes were:

Papercraft Flowers and Foliage – Annabel Walter

Make and decorate a facemask – Schyler Rice.
