Garden Party at United Reform Church

THERE were many events around the area for people to chose from at the weekend, but one that always proves popular with local folk is the annual Garden Party held at the United Reform Church.

Commencing with a grand opening by the Reverend Andrew Berry, and as glorious sunshine shone down, the crowds flocked to enjoy all that the event had to offer.

Stalls sold a variety of goods including jewellery, hand-made baby clothes, books, bric a brac, fruit and veg and home-made cakes and preserves.

There was plenty of entertainment on offer by way of out-door games, including 'hoop la' and the churches speciality, croquet on the lawn.

An outstanding scrumptious afternoon tea was available, with cakes and scones expertly made, prepared and served by church members.

Approximately 700 was raised which church treasurer David Winchester said was a good result.

David said: "It's a very good result for a small event. We have a lot of local support from the area."

The money raised will go into church funds,
