Gardeners are going for gold

GARDENERS have been urged to help turn Bognor Regis green this summer.

The town’s residents have the chance to take the town to the top in the South and South East in Bloom competition this year.

It will be the first entry in the contest after a year’s break. Bognor Regis in Bloom working party members hope to equal their previous high rankings.

Working party chairman Greg Burt said: “In Bloom is a competition all about the community pulling together for the benefit of the town and it’s brilliant to be able to launch this year’s In Bloom bid in our newest community garden.”

The launch took place in the Hothamton Sunken Gardens which has been changed from an overgrown area plagued with anti-social behaviour to a freshly planted valued site.

A steady stream of people visited the launch. Heather Knight, In Bloom co-ordinator, said: “Everyone can do their bit to make this a nicer town in which to live and work.”
