It was perfect weather on Sunday morning when more than 200 runners took part in the Little Horsted Fun Run at Isfield Cricket Field.

There were three lengths of run - 1k, 5k and 10k - and medals went to all those who finished, with trophies for the winners. The first start was at 10am and marshals were on hand to encourage the runners as well as point the way.

Water points were strategically placed throughout the runs as well as at the end and the course was slightly different from previous years due to maintenance work being carried out on one of the bridges.

There were stalls selling cakes, bacon butties and other refreshments.

One of the runners was Gary King, of Uckfield FM, who lost 33lbs on Uckfield’s Biggest Loser.

The Breakfast Show host decided to take up the challenge last Wednesday after being ‘nagged’ by fellow members of Uckfield’s Biggest Loser 2013. On deciding to take part, Gary said: “I’ve never ever done anything like this before and probably will never do this again! – but after shedding nearly 2½ stone recently, and I am wanting to continue to lose another couple of stone, then this is a great opportunity to see how I get on.”

He was raising money for Diabetes UK, a charity close to Gary’s heart as his eldest son Thomas, 14, has had type one diabetes since he was six. Entrance fees from the run will go towards lighting for Little Horsted School.
