GCSE RESULTS: ‘Significant improvement’ in grades at Ringmer Community College

Ringmer Community College saw a ‘significant improvement’ on last year’s GCSE scores as students collected their results this morning (Thursday, August 20).

Pupils improved on last year’s GCSE results, with more than 50 per cent of students achieving five or more A*-C grades including English and Maths. Sixty-seven per cent of students achieved five or more A*-C grades.

In addition to strong performances in English and Maths, a number of subject departments returned excellent results, including Biology (92 per cent A*-C), Chemistry (92 per cent), Drama (89 per cent), Geography (85 per cent), Physics (92 per cent) and Graphics (100 per cent).

Individual successes include Holly Parkinson (9A*, 2A), Rhiannon Jones (9A*, 2A), Elsa Woodmeade (8A*, 2A), Elle Barton (5 A*, 5A), Bluebell Nicholls (3A*, 6A, 1B) and Stephanie Banatvala (3A*, 9A, 1B).

College Principal Kathryn Stonier said: “I would like to congratulate the students and staff for their hard work in achieving excellent results across the range of subject areas and look forward to welcoming students back into the Sixth Form in September.”
