GET ON YOUR BIKE

Workers from all over Lewes are being invitied to leave their cars at home and Bike2Work on June 22.

The event, which will culminate in a cyclists' breakfast at the White Hart Hotel, is being sponsored by East Sussex County Council as part of its commitment to developing and increasing cycling in the town.

Th council's sponsorship of the event for the past seven years has seen a steady growth in the number of people cycling to work. Last year, more than 100 cyclists from across the town rode to work.

Cllr Matthew Lock, lead member for transport and environment, said: 'Cycling is a healthy way of commuting to and from work. We want to reduce the impact of traffic on our communities and cycling is a great way of doing this.'
