Get the facts on crime in Worthing

PEOPLE in Worthing are being invited to find out the facts about crime and disorder in the town.

The meeting will be chaired by local Police Authority member, Margaret Bishop, and will take place on Thursday, April 14 at 7pm at Durrington High School (entrance in The Boulevard, Durrington).

As well as discovering more about local crime and disorder, the meeting will also give people the chance to see what the neighbourhood police teams, Police Authority and Worthing Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership are doing to tackle the issues.

Mrs Bishop said: "Many of the issues that concern people are dealt with by a number of agencies, including the police and the council, therefore it makes sense to bring key experts together to help the residents of Worthing.

"This meeting is an ideal opportunity for people to meet and speak directly with their local policing team and for them to hear of the actions we are taking on their behalf."

Chief Inspector Jason Taylor, Worthing District Commander, will give an update on how police are aiming to provide a local service with neighbourhood policing teams responding to local needs.

He said: "We welcome everyone to attend this event. We want to hear from the residents about their community safety concerns and let people know what their neighbourhood policing teams are doing to tackle crime and disorder in Worthing."

Georgina Holland, Anti-Social Behaviour Co-ordinator, will update people on the work of the Worthing Crime and Disorder Reduction partnership.

She said: "Events like this are very important for the Council, as well as for local residents. This event will give us an insight into the concerns of the community, so that we can work towards the best solutions for everybody involved.

"It also allows us the opportunity to highlight the work that is already being done to combat such problems, and gain feedback on the success of existing initiatives.

"I hope people of all ages will make the effort to come to this meeting. It's a chance to have your say and make a difference."
