Get your roller skates on

FOUR enterprising Bexhill High School students will launch a new roller-skating club tomorrow (Saturday Jan 5).

Laurence Maynard and Max McKeown, both Year 7, and Zac Fox and Robin Iddenden, both Year 8, applied to the East Sussex Youthbank Fund for a grant.

They were delighted to receive 2,581 which will fund the ten-week course at Bexhill Leisure Centre on Saturdays from 6-8pm.

The four are part of the highly-successful BESLA team (Bexhill Elite Sports Leadership Academy) at the school.

Lisa Handy, BESLA leader, said: "For four young people to have the initiative to set up a course in roller skating on Saturday evenings is truly admirable.

"How many times have we heard people say that there is nothing for young people to do in Bexhill?

"Well here is a great opportunity for young people to do something productive, and that opportunity has been created by the young people of this town.
