GETTING SET FOR CARNIVAL

LEWES Carnival is gearing up for the big day on June 17. Organisers, the Rotary Club of Lewes Castle are raising funds for equipment needed urgently at Lewes Victoria Hospital.

Cliffe and Waterloo bonfire societies will bring a fiery touch to the procession which will also feature the Lewes, Glynde and Beddingham Silver Band and the Long Man Morris Dancers with Hannah's Cat. (The secret identity of the cat is a good reason alone for coming to the carnival.)

Floats will assemble at county hall at noon and will be judged at 1.30. The procession will leave County Hall at 2pm and travel to Brooks Road via Malling Fields, St Anne's Hill, High Street and Market Street as well as Phoenix Causeway.
