GETTING THE NHS FIT FOR THE FUTURE

THE National Health Service in East Sussex needs to ensure that it is providing the best and most appropriate care, and that it is providing value for money, to ensure than health services will be viable in the long term.

And as part of the process of planning healthcare, the local NHS has recently published a discussion document called Creating an NHS Fit for the Future, which explains why change is needed and describes the potential benefits for patients if some services were organised and delivered differently.

Local NHS organisations '“ including East Sussex Hospitals Trust, Eastbourne Downs PCT and Sussex Downs and Weald PCT - are currently in the discussion phase and have recently held stakeholder events, inviting people to join in the debate as they start to look at ways forward.
