Ghosts to raise cash in Walberton

An evening of ghosts and ghouls in Walberton will raise funds for two good causes.

The Halloween-themed event has been organised in partnership with the hotel, and will raise funds to help meet the educational and leisure needs of children in Walberton and the Hilton in the Community Foundation – another children’s charity.

Community Playcentre @ Walberton trustee Clare Matthews said: “We have been overwhelmed with the amount of support we have received so far.

“We have had a fantastic team pounding the streets of Arundel, Bognor Regis and Chichester drumming up support and businesses have been extremely generous in giving raffle prizes and items for the auction.”

The ball will take place on October 15 and raffle tickets are available at £1 each.

Auction prizes will include a diamond, a boxing glove signed by David Haye and Fontwell tickets.

Community Playcentre @ Walberton has seven trustees and was set up by members of the community to help meet some of the education and leisure needs of the children in the village.

The charity’s main aim – with the help of its many supporters – is to build and maintain a purpose-built centre for a range of child-based community activities.

The new centre would also provide a permanent home for the village’s much-loved pre-school.

The charity is looking to spend up to £300,000 on the facility and hopes work will start in 2012.

Support from local businesses and groups has already been received.

The Chichester-based Friarsgate Trust awarded a brilliant £5,000 plus another £5,000 from the Basil Shippam and Arlesford Trust.

The event starts at 7.30pm and the dress code is evening wear and black tie, but a hint of something spooky is acceptable.

Tickets for the event are priced at £45 but a table of ten can be purchased at a discounted rate of £400, and are available from [email protected]
