Giant Bognor logo set to conceal eyesore

A giant Bognor Regis logo is to be unofficially launched on June 10.

The large orange and blue symbol of regeneration is going up on one of the new hoardings in front of the former Lec Refrigeration site.

The hoardings are being put in place this week to mask the derelict plot alongside the A29 while its future is determined.

Site owner Sime Darby London Ltd received advertising consent for the four billboards to improve the appearance of what is Bognor's biggest eyesore. The hoardings are 4.4m high, 4.7m wide and 0.15m deep and form a zig-zag pattern.

A design day is being held on June 6 to produce community artwork for the other three panels. Three groups will take part in the event at the Westloats Lane community centre with the final designs chosen at the finish.

Planning applications to redevelop the Lec site with a 55,000sq ft Sainsbury's store for the Lec site and enterprise units for businesses are being considered by Arun District Council.
