Giant Easter Egg winner

A LOCAL resident is celebrating after she became one of fifty three lucky winners in the annual Bexhill Lions Club Giant Easter Egg Raffles.

Jean Burgess, who purchased her winning ticket at the Bungalow Caf, Barnhorn Road, said:

"This is the first thing I've won since I was 12 - and as that was a bottle of whisky my father didn't let me keep it! I'm very keen to support local causes like the Lions, and winning the Giant Egg was an unexpected bonus - and this time I'm keeping the prize!"

Over three thousand chocoholics entered the draw, raising in excess of 2,000 for the Bexhill Lions Charity Fund.

Brian Hood, Bexhill Lions Club fund-raiser said:

"Congratulations to the lucky fifty three who each won a Giant Easter Egg, and better luck next year to those less successful. We'd like to thank to all who entered, and special thanks to the pubs, clubs, restaurants, shops and offices who gave magnificent support by running the Egg draws.

"The sums are still being done, but the profit from the Easter Egg draws seems certain to exceed the 2200 raised last year, and will all go to the Bexhill Lions Charity Fund. This is used to support many local worthy causes, as well as special initiatives by Lions Club International."
