Giant windfarms heading to the coastline near you?

A MASS of giant wind turbines could be sited off the West Sussex coast, if Government plans announced last week go ahead.

The controversial scheme affects an area stretching from Worthing through Shoreham to Seaford, which has been pinpointed as a potential site for more than one enormous windfarm to help meet EU energy needs.

The announcement came as a surprise to Worthing borough councillors and to Worthing MPs, who knew nothing about it '“ even though initial negotiations start in September, and approval is scheduled for 2009, with building starting in 2010.
