They met while both were pupils at Bexhill High School - Ben, 27, is the son of Tina and Phil Thirkell of Meads Avenue while Bronwyn, 25, is the daughter of Pete and Anne Todd of Cowdray Park who are Australian but settled with their family in Little Common.

Ben and Bronwyn arrived in Sydney not knowing where they would live and travelled up the East Coast with the idea of finding their future home - they then fell for a seaside village called Lennox Head.

New grandma Tina told the Observer about the new arrival and said: "We knew it was going to be a girl but it is still a suprise when the baby comes. We expected her before Christmas so it was a nice surprise when she came on New Years Day.

"It's absolutely amazing - she looks very much like Ben and was born weighing 7lb 14oz."
