Giraffe takes a tumble in Hunston

Twiga has taken a tumble at The Manor House

Wire animals made by sculptor Julian Broad adorn the garden at the family home in Church Lane.

Son Ben Broad said: “A fair amount of time has passed and, as one would expect, the animals have aged accordingly.

“A couple of weeks ago, our life-size giraffe Twiga took a tumble and she is currently lying on her side next to the yew hedge on the front lawn.”

Will the fallen giraffe be back on its feet by next Saturday for the garden open day?

It has proved a bit of a problem for the Broad family, as they will be opening the garden at The Manor House on Saturday, June 7, to raise money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Chichester.

Ben said: “The question is whether or not Twiga will have pulled herself together by the then and be back standing proud.”

Visit between The Manor House, Church Lane, Hunston, PO20 1AJ, between 1pm and 5pm. Entry £3.

Come face-to-face with rhinos, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes and lions. These wild animal sculptures are dotted around three acres of moated garden with roses, an orchard and a parterre terrace.
