Give unwanted pets a happy new year

Northiam’s Blue Cross Centre is urging people to give unwanted pets a dream start to the new year by providing them with a loving new home.

Donations of Christmas gifts for the animals helped bring some cheer to the centre with pets even having their own Amazon gift list, which ranged from special play tunnels to keep cats exercised and mentally stimulated to chews and training equipment for the dogs at the centre.

Sarah Bussell, Rehoming Supervisor at Northiam Blue Cross said: “We always try and make the pets stay with us extra special over Christmas.”

She added: “We’d also like to say a big thank to all our fantastic supporters and volunteers who help us with donations and their time throughout the year. We couldn’t do it without them.”

Among pets at the centre who would benefit from a loving new home in 2015 are black cat Coco who has now been looking for a new home for over 100 days. Staff say two-year-old Coco has found life at the centre a little overwhelming and would love to find a new home with a patient owner who will give him lots of fuss and attention once he’s settled in.

Also looking is tortoiseshell and white cat Pixie who came to Blue Cross when her elderly owner had to move into a care home and sadly couldn’t take her along. Ten year old Pixie loves fuss and attention and deserves to find a cosy new home for her twilight years.

Cat Spike has won the hearts of the team at the centre. He’s such a friendly chap and loves exploring. His party trick is drinking water from his bowl by dipping his paw in. Spike loves his treats too and enjoys a big fuss.
