Gleaming through the gloom

THE last Saturday in May was sadly a dull windswept day on Bexhill seafront, but members of the Bexhill 100 Motoring Club did their best to brighten things up.

A total of 17 of the club’s cars and two potential new members’ cars were on display next to the Old Bathing Station on the seafront from 9.30am until just after 2pm.

Club spokesman Bob Wilkinson said: “The sun did try to show its face once in a while, but each time the promise of a nicer day came along hopes were again dashed.”

Mr Wilkinson added: “At least the event was worthwhile, and people visiting Bexhill and walking along the seafront seemed happy to chat. Many of those a little older undoubtedly found their memories stirred by examples of cars that they or their parents once drove.”

Anyone who missed seeing the cars on Saturday should note further opportunities to come, with seafront displays planned for Sunday, June 26 and Sunday, July 24.

The club also holds a Classic and Custom Car Show at the Polegrove Recreation Ground in Brockley Road on August Bank Holiday Monday, August 29, and has been honoured with an invitation to again exhibit at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC, Birmingham, in November.
