Glitz and Gatsby glamour at prom

HAVING just completed their exams, the Year 11 students of Robertsbridge Community College celebrated in some style with a Great Gatsby themed Leavers Prom in the Montgomery Suite of the Bannatyne hotel on Thursday.

About one hundred students took part and following arrival drinks and photos they sat down to a three course supper followed by dancing until nearly midnight.

Ball gowns and tuxedos cry out for smart arrivals and there was an impressive array of flash sports cars and stylish limos delivering students to the door. Some had even managed to really stand out, with a beautiful Rolls Royce, a 1960’s double-decker Southdown bus, and even one of Mick Gould’s mighty breakdown recovery trucks. The driver managed to get it through the gates and up the driveway, blasting the air-horns for maximum effect. Even the rain held off until just before everyone sat down to eat.

A spokesperson for Robertsbridge Community College said: “It was a delightful finale to five years had work, enjoyed just as much by the staff attending as by the students themselves.

“Staff at Robertsbridge Community College wish all this year’s leavers every success in the future and remind them to keep in touch.”
