A GRAPHIC designer working in Worthing looked up to the sky for inspiration '“ and saw a cloud formation which appeared to show Christ on the cross.

Carl Tidy, who works for Worthing-based Christian publishing company CPO in Canterbury Road, took the picture printed above and the image is being used as part of a summer campaign to promote faith.

Carl stepped out of his office door for a breath of fresh air while seeking inspiration for a national summer church poster campaign.

He looked to the Worthing skies, only to "see" Jesus on the cross '” albeit in cloud form.

Said Carl: "It's amazing that it should happen to me while looking for an image for the summer range. The shot hasn't been doctored or digitally enhanced at all. The poster shows exactly what I saw."

Carl's image is to be launched in CPO's summer catalogue, which hits churches next week.

The image of Christ has previously been seen on items as diverse a piece of toast, tree bark, a frying pan, a wardrobe and a gatepost.
