The special parade race saw cyclists going around the track twice to celebrate the race, founded in 1903, and its 100th running.

Elsewhere, the qualifying races have continued on the track and, as the sun came out (almost), visitors took the chance to have a picnic and compare outfits.

Mayson’s 1930s Alfons Pollack pram attracted quite a lot of attention.

“We go to a lot of 1940s events but we always like Goodwood because there is that extra bit with the cars and everything else,” said Mark who was attending for the third time.

“And, of course, having a pram like this everyone was saying we had to come.”

Local girls Julie Searle, Lucy Funnell, Steph Rdge and Claire Connolly were also having a good day, enjoying champagne outside the Veuve Clicquot.

They all got ready at Steph’s Glorious Spa, in Chichester, and all bought their outfits locally as well, with Vintage, Chichester, and St Wilfrid’s Hospice Vintage Affair being popular choices.

“I bought my hat first and then bought my outfit around it because I just fell in love with the hat,” said Julie.
