Organiser of the event Mike Abbott said: “I’ve lived here for nearly 40 years and, so far as I’m aware, this is the first time a Gospel Choir has performed here.

“It will be a big , joyful sound - the Godalming Community Gospel Choir stand throughout their performance to sing, dance and generally uplift their audiences.

“If you could bottle their energy and joy the NHS would save a fortune.”

The GCGC was founded in 2011 and were finalists in the BBC’s gospel choir of the year in 2015.

The performance will start at 7.30pm when the choir will sing a programme of gospel songs for the Easter season.

Some 50 singers are coming to sing, with accompanying soloists, piano, bass guitar and percussion.
