The latest Hailsham hotel was opened with a celebration party attended by the town’s most high profile people.
Businessman Sheik-Abid Gulzar and his son Sasha threw the doors open to the 48-bedroom Lions Boship Farm Hotel.
Guests included Wealden MP Charles Hendry, Hailsham Mayor, Cllr Jo Bentley, David White, chair of Hellingly Parish Council and Peter Jones, leader of East Sussex County Council.
The property was bought last December by the Lion Hotels Group, which also owns three hotels along Eastbourne seafront. The company also hopes to open a children’s nursery in the town soon.
Mr Gulzar said: “I decided to move into Hailsham because I was attracted to the Boship and its potential. Long term I would like to expand the hotel but that will depend on what the planners will allow. We are already investing money and will continue to do so.
“There are no new jobs initially because we have existing staff, but hopefully we will be busier and need more staff.”
Hailsham Mayor Jo Bentley welcomed Mr Gulzar and Sasha to the town, saying she hoped they would be integral in the local community.
