Her latest effort has involved raising more than £3,000 for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity by power-walking 2012 kilometres in the space of ten months.

Kate was in the top 16 of 105,000 UK fund-raisers.

Her work was recognised when she was invited to Team GB House, at the Olympics site in Stratford, East London, to be presented with a special edition Gold Medal by the Gold Challenge Team.

She received the award from high jump athlete Dalton Grant and Paralympic runner Noel Thatcher.

Kate commented: “It was an amazing experience and I would like to thank everyone who has supported me.”
