Great results for Regis School students

There were celebrations all round as The Regis School saw a huge improvement in its GCSE results.

This morning (Thursday) the Westloats Lane school revealed significant improvements in all key benchmarks.

The number of students gaining five higher GCSEs increased by 12 per cent and the number awarded five higher GCSEs including English and Mathematics rose by 8.5 per cent.

With 15 students achieving five or more A grades.

In biology, chemistry, dance, drama, physics, religious studies, statistics, and textiles, over 60 per cent of entrants gained a higher grade.

Headteacher David Jones said: “There are some wonderful success stories within this group of 236 students.

“This includes young people in care as well as others who have had significant barriers to overcome.

“These results are by far the best we have ever achieved and exemplify our journey of improvement which we hope will be accelerated by our move to Academy status in January 2012.”
