Green Flags for two of the area's parks

Arun District Council is celebrating after two parks in the Bognor Regis area have scooped the coverted Green Flag status '¨for 2012/13.

Hotham Park retains the award for the fourth year running and Marine Park Gardens for the second.

Paul Dendle, the council’s cabinet member for environmental services, said: “These awards speak volumes about the hard 
work that has been put in by members of staff, local residents and our many active and committed friends groups 
and volunteers to create
clean, safe and green 
environments people can enjoy and be proud of.

“We are extremely fortunate in Arun to have such wonderful parks and green spaces that 
can be enjoyed by the whole community.

Affectionately dubbed the ‘people’s park’, Hotham Park is supported by several voluntary groups whose members give up their free-time to help with projects.

Michael Rowland, Hotham Park manager, said: “The Green Flag award is very important to us and we are delighted to be flying it again for a fourth year.

“We remain committed to continuing to develop and improve the park.” 

Marine Park Gardens in Aldwick is a traditional 1930s-style garden with extensive annual 
and perennial planting.
