Green light for £3.5m Sidley Business Park

A £3.5 million project to attract new businesses and create jobs in one of Rother's most deprived wards was given the go-ahead on Monday night (March 2).

Members of Rother District Council supported the hiring of a contractor and confirmed funding to build the Sidley Goods Yard scheme.

It comprises a total of 1,600 square metres of workshop space in two blocks, together with a two-storey 'incubator' building divided into 20 lettable rooms.

The scheme will be built next to the proposed Bexhill to Hastings Link Road, which the council hopes will help bring new lifeblood into both the project and the town.

It is one of Rother District Council's executive priority projects.

Rother leader Cllr Carl Maynard said: "The Sidley Goods Yard scheme shows that Rother District Council is a forward-thinking authority.

"When the country recovers from its economic slump, the facilities will already be in place for new businesses to flourish.

"This is a long term investment for the council and shows how committed we are to bringing jobs to the district and building for a prosperous future."
