The meeting barely lasted 20 minutes at Bexhill Town Hall as councillors had few objections or concerns with either proposal.

Cllr Robert Elliston was ‘slightly concerned’ by the proximity of neighbours to the camping site at the grade II* listed building and cllr Mary Barnes said the plans may need to be looked at in the future due to potential growth.

A successful appeal by Jempsons Local in Northiam to open on bank and public holidays was questioned by cllr Sue Prochak.

She said the original condition to not open then was to safeguard neighbours as their access is through the shop’s car park.

The Salehurst councillor asked whether the needs of residents was no longer important to inspectors.

An appeal for an extension to an orangery at Methersham Manor in Beckley was dismissed.

John Pinder wanted to build an oak-framed extension to the east and west sides of the manor on Hobbs Lane.

This followed the demolition of a porch on the west side elevation.
