Green seating for Adur towns

BENCHES made from recycled plastic are providing a new kind of "green" seating in Adur's towns.

The district council has just bought 15 benches which are made from old bottles and plastic bags. They were chosen because of their weather rust resistance and low maintenance.

They will replace worn and rusty seats in the coastal areas of the district.

The council hopes to install more of these benches later this year as part of its "spruce it up" campaign to make Adur cleaner, greener and safer.

Adur council's community and leisure services Chairman, Keith Dollemore, said: "I'm pleased to see us using recycled products to enhance the appearance of the district completing the waste recycling circle."
