Greg Barker MP urges people to ‘report more anti-social acts’

BATTLE MP Greg Barker is asking local people to help keep their communities safe by telling police about any anti-social or criminal behaviour going on in their area.

It follows his recent meeting with Rother District Commander, Chief Inspector Katy Woolford.

Mr Barker learnt that crime rates have fallen in Rother by 5.3 per cent compared to the same time last year.

However, Chief Inspector Woolford is keen to ensure that her officers and resources are in the right place to tackle any problems across Rother.

She told Mr Barker that the engagement of local people with the police is vital as residents are the ‘eyes and ears’ of their local communities.

Operation Blitz is especially important in tackling anti-social behaviour which often increases during the summer months as the evenings are lighter.

Local people can sign up to Operation Blitz by emailing their Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) on Bexhill.NPT@sussex.pnn.police.uk, Battle.NPT@sussex.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101.

Mr Barker said: “I am pleased to learn that crime rates have significantly reduced across Bexhill and Battle over the last three years.

“However, we cannot be complacent, and each of us has a role to play in ensuring that our communities remain safe. I would strongly encourage everyone to take advantage of the Community Messaging scheme run by Sussex Police and report any incidents or anti-social behaviour.”
