Greg's fire thanks

BEXHILL MP Gregory Barker has written to thank Des Pritchard, the chief fire officer of the East Sussex Fire Service, to praise fire fighters after they answered a call to put out a chimney fire at the MP's home in Peasmarsh over the Christmas.

Speaking after the incident Greg said: "The sight of flames escaping through a chimney inspection hatch and licking the outside walls was certainly very worrying, especially given the age of the house. The quick arrival of the team from Rye immediately put our minds at rest and the incredibly effective, friendly and even tidy way in which they dealt with the problem was most impressive!

"It was a timely reminder of how much we depend on our terrific local firefighters."
