Group who fought for the cinema

NEWS of a cinema returning to Littlehampton has brought elation to a community group which had a key role in making the deal between Inspire and CineMobile happen.

Pat King and Phil McEarlain jointly set up the The Windmill Cinema Supporters Group and tirelessly campaigned to bring a cinema back to the town.

Since the Windmill Cinema closed in February, Pat and Phil have spoken with several cinema operators and even considered running the service with their group.

They met on various occasions with councillors from Arun, Littlehampton and Rustington councils and representatives from Inspire Leisure.

In the end, they spoke with CineMobile and felt the company was the right one to bring back a cinema to Littlehampton.

Pat added: “We met CineMobile with council officers and we agreed we wanted them to run a cinema at the Windmill. Then it was a simply a case of waiting for them and Inspire to hammer out a deal, which we’re really pleased they’ve managed to do.”
